Big thanks to Joseph and team for advising on and installing a new 315L Rheem hot water system within the same day. We appreciated the prompt service and easy to understand options available.
I would highly recommend Joe. He was punctual, informative and completed the works quickly and professionally.
Joseph was a pleasure to deal with…a complete Professional both in his Workmanship and his quiet, good manners. Thank you for making the process of replacing my HWS painless🤗
I called at 6:30am on a Saturday and Joseph was at my place by 9:30am. He talked me through options for my new hot water system and installed it within the hour. Brilliant service and very helpful.
I have used Jetset Plumbing over the last couple of weeks for a new hot water system and pipe repair. They are prompt and pleasant explaining the problem and the solution. Thanks for the salt n pepper tap grinders, very cute. Blake Jesse and Joe et al were all great.
Our hot water system die on Sunday night, Monday was a public holiday, Jetset plumbing came out had a look for us with no call out free. They told us unfortunately the system had to be replaced, they went over all options, were very friendly and so helpful. Once we pick out what we needed, they organised for a new system to go in the very next morning. Our property is not the easiest to work with but these guys were amazing and nothing seem to be to hard for them. Would highly recommend this company.
Joseph Jackson attended after our old gas hot water system was not up to scratch. Joseph gave us multiple options and what was recommended. Didn't feel pressured at all, chose the best option for us moving forward. Very happy with quality of work performed. Happy to recommend!
I just had Joe out, to my electric hot water system. Super efficient, product and standards savvy. Good polite operator. aaaa Highly Recommended aaaa David Belmont Qld
I needed my hot water cylinder replaced and selected Jetset Plumbing for a number of reasons. The receptionist was most helpful. There was no surcharge and she arranged for an assessment to be given. The following day Mathew and Nathan arrived to complete the job. They were efficient ' friendly and explained the process to me. They cleaned up any mess they had made and I would highly recommend them for any plumbing job. The company also offers seniors/pensioner discounts.
Our new hot water system was installed professionally and on time. Very pleased
I would highly recommend Jetset Plumbing - they were one of the few companies I rang, who do not incur a 'call out' fee to 'inspect' and 'give a quote' for the job. They contacted me to try and make an earlier appointment to fix my problem quicker, rang 20 minutes before arrival and then co-ordinated the arrival of a new hot water system to coincide with the emptying of the old system so as to speed up the time to complete the job. Joe was the ultimate professional - answering all my questions and showing me all options and ensuring I understood and was completely happy with a quality product, before proceeding. The old system was taken away and disposed of environmentally, new system was installed ensuring all compliances were adhered to and a hand over given to ensure I understood how to maintain my new unit - all in under 3 hours. Brilliant!!
Joe came to replace our old broken gas hot water system with a brand new one. He was on time, professional and super friendly. He even worked around my 4 little children, giving them a go of the tools and answering their thousand and one questions. I was very happy with his service. He also gave us the best price and beat all other quotes.

How do Electric Hot Water Heaters Work?

Electric hot water systems are still the most common type of water heater used in Queensland homes. Of these, storage hot water systems are the most popular, as opposed to instantaneous hot water systems, because they can service a greater demand.

Electric Storage Hot Water System

In an electric storage hot water heater, cold water flows through to the storage unit and is then heated to a set temperature by internal electric heating elements. As it is heated, the water rises to the top of the tank where it remains stored until there is a distribution demand.

Electric Instant Hot Water System

Otherwise known as continuous flow heaters, instantaneous electric hot water systems work by heating water on demand. When a hot water tap is turned on, cold water flows through a heat exchanger in order to provide hot water.

These are more efficient than their storage counterparts, but they do have a higher upfront cost. Instant hot water systems can also have a lag in their hot water supply during high demand periods; the more taps turned on, the slower the hot water will be.

Why Choose Electric Hot Water?

We understand choosing the right hot water system can be difficult, especially with a greater push for environmentally friendly households.

The main selling point for these electric storage heaters is their low upfront cost. Often, new hot water systems are bought when the old one has failed, or is at least close to it. Electric hot water systems make that initial purchase far more affordable; it also helps that they are generally easier to install and last for at least 10-15 years.

If the running costs are making you hesitant, there are some storage systems that can be connected to off-peak power periods. This restricts the times at which the heating system can actually heat. Though these periods are often between the hours of 11pm to 7am, meaning the units need to be larger as they cannot continuously heat throughout the day.

What To Consider Before Going Electric

While the upfront costs might be lower, there are important factors to consider when looking to buy an electric hot water system.

Electric hot water systems are not the most efficient or environmentally friendly system on the market. The water in these storage units must be kept to a minimum of 60°C to prevent bacterial growth. This means there is a constant demand for energy use, making the running costs higher than gas or solar hot water systems.

These water tanks are also large, often needing to hold at least 120-160 litres of water, if not more depending on your household needs. This means they take up space. Though there are both indoor and outdoor options for these storage units, space is not always in abundance for some homeowners.

Electric Hot Water System Maintenance

Electric hot water systems should be serviced every five years to ensure longevity and provide maximum functionality.

Whether your system needs a pressure test, a clean out, or even replacement parts, Jetset Plumbing is ready to help. Our electric hot water specialists are experts at accurately diagnosing any issues your hot water system might have and providing solutions that suit your needs.

FAQs: Electric Hot Water Systems

Electric hot water systems use electric heating elements to heat water stored in a tank. When you turn on a hot water tap, the heated water from the tank is delivered to the tap.
Electric systems are often more energy-efficient compared to some other options. They are also relatively easy to install and can be more affordable upfront.
The main types include storage tank systems, where water is stored and continuously heated, and tankless systems that heat water on-demand as it passes through a heating element.
Regular maintenance involves flushing the tank to remove sediment buildup and checking for signs of corrosion. It's recommended to consult the manufacturer's guidelines or ask a plumber.
The lifespan varies, but well-maintained electric hot water systems can last around 10-15 years or more.
This could be due to a faulty heating element, a tripped circuit breaker, a malfunctioning thermostat, or issues with the electrical connections.
Electric systems can be efficient, especially newer models with improved insulation and energy-saving features. However, they might be less efficient than some other options like solar or heat pump systems.
You can adjust the thermostat to a lower temperature, insulate the tank, and consider using a timer to heat water during off-peak hours.
Yes, many electric hot water systems offer off-peak or controlled load options, which can be more cost-effective for heating water during non-peak hours.
Yes, you can switch to an electric system, but it might require adjustments to your plumbing and electrical setup. Consulting a professional is recommended.
Consider factors like the number of occupants in your home, water usage patterns, and the system's capacity. Consulting a plumber can help you make an informed decision.
